Plan the day on the dispatch board
Set up technicians, place jobs by dragging or from the keyboard, check conflicts and dispatch the day.
For: Dispatchers and supervisorsSteps
- Go to MetriField → Dispatch board → Technicians. Everybody with a MetriField seat is listed. Select Edit to choose their holiday calendar (federal and state public holidays), set working hours for dispatch, an optional home base with coordinates for travel estimates, a daily visit limit, and whether they appear on the board.
- Open the Board tab and pick a day. Each technician has a timeline: white is working time, grey is outside hours and a striped lane is a public holiday. The left column lists open work orders with no technician, most urgent SLA first.
- Drag a job onto a technician's timeline at the time you want. Or select Assign and schedule (or a job block) to choose the technician, visit start and end from the keyboard — the dialog checks for conflicts as you type.
- Blocks are coloured by priority, and a red outline means a conflict: overlap, outside hours, public holiday, missing skill, SLA at risk, outside the customer's window or over the daily limit. Select the block to see and fix it.
- When a technician's day is right, select Dispatch day. Their scheduled jobs become Dispatched and they are notified in MetriCRM, by email and in Slack or Teams when linked.
Good to know
- On a phone the board shows a list per technician instead of the timeline; Change opens the same dialog.
- Skills come from each person's routing profile in Settings → Users; the technician list in the dialog marks who lacks a required skill.
- The Map tab is coming soon. Until a map provider is connected it lists the day's jobs with their saved coordinates to open in your maps app.
- Dispatch settings set the travel speed, the travel time used without coordinates, the default visit length, the board's hours and the SLA warning time.
