Build a marketing journey

Send emails and WhatsApp or SMS templates over time, branch on engagement and stop when the contact reaches the goal — only to contacts who opted in.

For: Marketing and sales managers

Steps

  1. 1Go to MetriReach → Journeys and select New journey. Give it a name and, if you like, the campaign it belongs to.
  2. 2Select the entry step and choose when contacts enter: a form is submitted, they join a segment, a CRM event happens, or a date on the contact comes (for example a renewal date). Choose whether they may enter again and add exit criteria if needed.
  3. 3Add steps with Add step: Marketing email (a template from the library, sent in the contact's language), WhatsApp template (approved templates only), SMS template, Wait, Wait until a date, Branch on engagement (opened, clicked, replied, visited a page, submitted a form), Condition, internal steps (add tag, update field, create task, notify the owner), Goal and Exit. Connect each step's paths in the panel on the right.
  4. 4Select Send a test to me: every message goes to your own email (and WhatsApp or SMS to the number you enter), waits are skipped and nothing counts in the analytics.
  5. 5Select Publish. New contacts enter on this version; contacts already in the journey finish on the version they started. Pause the journey to stop new entries.
  6. 6Open the Analytics tab to see, per step, how many contacts entered, were sent a message, opened, clicked, converted, exited or were skipped because they had not opted in.

Good to know

  • A message is never sent to a contact who did not opt in on that channel: the step is skipped and logged, and the journey continues.
  • Frequency caps and quiet hours (Malaysia time by default) apply to every journey: select Caps and quiet hours on the Journeys page.
  • A goal counts wherever the contact is in the journey: if they book a meeting during a wait, they convert and leave at once.
  • Only people can publish, pause or test a journey; AI agents never do.
